Fall Update – December 3, 2013

> Continuing discussion with RAIL and VIA in Sarnia has resulted in the planned reinstatement of an early train linking Sarnia to London, enabling early arrival in Toronto for meetings and appointments. See the news report in The Observer.

> CFUW Stratford is on the road with its presentation to groups: You Can’t Get There From Here. Recent presentations were to the 60+ luncheon at the Local Community Food Centre and to the Kiwanis Club of Stratford. Upcoming will be a presentation to the Stratford Rotary Club in February.  The presentation outlines the issues involved in integrated public transportation. > Larger gatherings of Advocacy Groups are beginning to take place:  SWEA held a Passenger Transportation SummitNovember 14th, 2013.  Many interested parties from all levels of government and from advocacy groups were present.  Their conclusion: The SWEA Passenger Transportation Steering Committee will meet in early December to discuss next steps which will include a call to the Ontario legislature to convene an all-party committee study of the passenger transportation crisis in Southwestern Ontario.
