Sheila Clarke from CFUW’s GettingThere.ca project recently met with VIA Rail CEO Yves Desjardins-Siciliano in London for an update on the new trains in and out of Stratford that were promised last year. In June 2015, Desjardins-Siciliano announced a new 6:30am train from Stratford to Toronto and a new 4:30 pm return train. Although there have been delays since the announcement, the new trains should be added to the schedule either later this year or early next year once agreements can be reached with CN freight service for track use. The Stratford Beacon Herald published an update on CFUW’s meeting with the VIA CEO quoting Sheila about her optimism that VIA will soon deliver on its promise to provide increased daily service to and from Stratford.
